About Judith

After listening to my first audiobook years ago, I was hooked on this beautiful and meaningful artform. Since then, I’ve listened to hundreds of audiobooks across many genres, leaning toward books in which the listener can learn something, whether it be about a period in history, a different culture, or something about themselves through the actions of the book’s characters.  I admit, I am that audiobook listener who hangs out on the driveway minutes after arriving home because I just have to listen a little longer!

Having caught the acting bug in high school, I acted on the stages and screens in my hometown of Chicago through my early 20s.  I wanted to move to New York or LA to pursue my dreams, like any young actor!  However, my practical mother, who raised three girls by herself after my dad died when I was 6, put her foot down.  Time to get a real job, she said.  After all, I had a college degree in dietetics and nutrition, another passion of mine.

Fast forward many years, and I did move to southern California, where I currently reside, but not to pursue acting.  I got married, had three kids, divorced, and remarried, creating a blended family of seven kids.  Was it like the Brady Bunch?  No.  Did I learn a lot and grow as a person?  I like to think so.

My love of learning and children led me to the field of education.  I taught hundreds of third and fourth graders over 25 years.  My hope is that many of them were sparked to love the written word.  I keep in touch with many of my former students and families and enjoy seeing them succeed in life and start families of their own.

Since retiring from teaching, I have been pouring my life experience into the audiobooks I narrate.  My favorites are literary and historical fiction, which are so immersive and full of life lessons, as well as nonfiction, because one should never stop learning.  Of course, children’s and middle grade books will always be near and dear to my heart. And for fun, I love a good mystery/thriller or romance!

When not narrating in my home booth, I can be found running the local trails, lobbing and dinking on the pickleball court, or hanging out with my seven awesome grandkids!

Testimonials

Judith Harrison is so talented and professional. I selected her to be the narrator for my memoir “Homeless in Hawaii,” and she made the process feel seamless from beginning to end. I’m thrilled with the final product and have already received rave reviews from people who have heard the audiobook. I’m so grateful I got to work with her on this project. She is extremely efficient and made my book shine.
